Padded room...with a view.

Three and half years ago we found a ranch home that was built in 1957, i.e. a house that needed lots of work. It was on the same street that my grandparents lived, so it had a lot of sentimental value for me, and it sits on two acres of beautiful canyon, which my husband loved. We looked at it several times and knew it was too much to take on. At our last meeting with the sellers (where we were supposed to be telling them we were going to pass)...we went out on the back porch with this view and almost at the same time, both exclaimed, "We'll take it!" Maybe we can blame it on the lack of oxygen to our brains in the high altitude...but it may have been the dumbest thing we've ever done, and trust me...that list is long. I can't tell you how many people have come up to us since then and said something like, "Yeah, we looked at that house when it was for sale but we thought it was a 'tear down'." Maybe they didn't have the same vision, or endless supply of money (ha!), or the INSANITY that we do...so we lucked out and ended up with our diamond in the rough. Yes, this house needs a seemingly endless amount of fixing up, but I do believe it has the potential to be something incredible someday...and someday SOON, hopefully. With a lot blood, sweat, (mostly his) and tears (mostly mine)...we are turning this place into our dream home, even if it kills us.
